Tar & Chip
Tar and chip paving, also known as chip seal, is a cheap alternative to asphalt paving. Tar and chip surfaces are made from hot tar, liquid asphalt emulsion, or bitumen poured over an existing pavement (in good condition). Later, fine aggregate (natural stone pieces or gravel) are then compacted into it using a roller.
Tar and chip surfaces are cheap, sturdy, offer excellent traction and skid resistance even in bad weather due to their rough texture, and are more absorbent to heat in hot summers. Tar and chip are a popular option for residential projects like driveways. However, snow removal can be a problem on such surfaces as shoveling can damage the seal, and so can frequent salting or deicing.
Garden State Paving & Seal Coating, LLC offers quick and effective tar and chip sealing in New Jersey. Our experts carry out a thorough inspection of your existing pavement to determine the project’s feasibility and give relevant guidance on what the best solution will be for your property.
Since tar and chip paving is done on your existing pavement, it will save you the grading and layering cost of the sub-base level. Nonetheless, after the inspection, if needed, we carry out some repairs on your pavement as required before applying the tar and chip top layer. We use the best materials to create a durable surface.
Also, since we use natural stones, you have multiple color options available. The color of the aggregate contrasts perfectly against the black color of your binder, offering an exquisite and aesthetically appealing surface that will boost your property’s curb appeal.
